Reflection

Tennessee tech has a newspaper called the oracle. The other day they had an article about learning communities. Learning communities is when a group of students take a couple classes together. The oracle dogged learning communities calling them middle school. I completely disagree with what they think. As a member of a learning community I think it has helped me a ton. You have the opportunity to become close with not only your classmates but your professor to. If you have any trouble with the assignments you have people you can turn to for help. After having class with the same people you build a bond with them. Your all in the same boat together and can trust each other for help.
Being able to keep up with your professor via facebook or chat is a very good thing I believe. You are able to keep in touch with your teacher the same way you can keep up with your friends. It also makes the teacher a lot cooler if they can keep up to date with people our age.

intake form

we recieved intake forms in class for helping hands of putnam county and the care center. both of the intakes are very different. it seems like the care center will only help you if attend church on a regular basis. while helping hands has nothing about church on their form. i don't believe church should have anything to do with whether or not you should help someone. everyone is equal in gods eyes. also im sure people will lie on their form if they know the only way they can get help is if they mark down that they do attend church on a regular basis.

culture crawl

at the beginning of the year we took a tour of cookeville. we started off in the music and fine arts building on campus where we listened to the orchestra play some music. afterwards we began our tour. the first place we visited was the amphitheatre. then we went to the theatre in cookeville where all the big plays take place. after that we were split into 2 groups. one group went to the history museum first while my group went to the locomotive museum. after we toured the first place we went to the other one. all of this was very interesting but i think the history musuem was the best. we met back together as one group and went to eat. my group went to a sushi bar while the other group went to an indian place.

electic spider web

On friday my univeristy 1020 class held a convention called the electic spider web. those who read their stories about boy bands, rock n roll, and twilight all did a great job. i especially liked the papers about the boy bands. after all the papers had been read we ate some pretty good food from chartwells. and then held an amazing concert. the pursuits opened things up and did a fantastic job. after there set was over this is luke took the stage and continuing the amazing concert. finally mother/father took the stage. they did an amazing job as well and i think overall the electic spider web was a sucess

Homeless on Campus

I couldn't imagine having to be homeless and in college. especially if i was like Aesha and had a kid. i find it pretty sad that she wasn't aloud to take her child to the daycare at her school because the child was not old enough. if you have students who are coming from having absolutely nothing and are trying to make it for themselves you could at least off them a bed to sleep in. i believe that all colleges across the country should take a survey to see what students are homeless and try to find a way to help them out.

joe blog

Blogs are a great way of sharing your thoughts and opinions. It is amazing to think about how they have come so far. Ten years ago, blogs first started to make it mainstream. Now everyone has one. They are a great way of finding information about things that aren't on the news. A perfect example of this was on Strom Thurmond's 100th birthday party when Trent Lott made reference to Thurmond's past segregationist leanings. Immediately people started blogging about this but it didn't hit mainstream news for almost five days later. Or when Russ Kick posted photographs of coffins of dead soldiers and the Columbia astronauts. Two days later the pictures had gone from Kick's blog to the front page of newspapers across the country. The best thing about blogs is that they are free. Anyone can have one or you can read anybodys that you want. Having a blog is great way to gather or share information.
